At Tumbledown Distillery, our story begins at Mount Tumbledown

When people think about premium gin, they often focus on the botanicals. Juniper, citrus, herbs and spices all play their part in creating distinctive flavours, but there’s another ingredient that deserves equal attention – water.

At Tumbledown Distillery, our story begins at Mount Tumbledown. More than simply inspiring our name, the mountain provides the pure water that begins every batch of our handcrafted spirits. Flowing through the rugged Falklands landscape, this naturally clean water forms the very foundation of our distillation process.

Water is involved at every stage of making gin

It is used in fermentation, distillation and, finally, to bring the spirit to its perfect bottling strength. Because it makes up such a significant proportion of the finished product, the quality of the water has a direct influence on the character and clarity of the gin.

The Falkland Islands offer one of the cleanest natural environments on Earth. Free from heavy industry and surrounded by the fresh South Atlantic, the islands provide a landscape where nature remains wonderfully unspoilt. Combined with carefully selected botanicals – including hand-foraged native scurvy grass – the purity of our water helps create a spirit that is crisp, balanced and unmistakably Falklands.

Of course, exceptional gin is never created by one ingredient alone.

Distilling is about balance, precision and patience. Every botanical contributes its own character, while careful distillation allows those flavours to work in harmony rather than compete for attention.

At Tumbledown Distillery, we believe great spirits should reflect the place they come from. From the wild botanicals gathered across the islands to the pure water drawn from Mount Tumbledown, every bottle carries something of the Falklands within it.

After all, extraordinary gin doesn’t simply begin with exceptional ingredients.

It begins at the source.
