Small
by design
Tumbledown remains a small-scale operation. Even with consistent production, annual output is limited, typically in the region of 2,600 litres of gin.
We could make more. We choose not to. Every batch is distilled, bottled and finished by hand in Stanley, and holding output at this level is what lets us keep that standard. It means each bottle carries the character of where it’s made, not the compromises that come with chasing volume. Small isn’t what we settle for, it’s what we’re built around.
Who buys it
The typical customer reflects the origin:
- Military personnel
- Visitors to the islands
- Collectors and drinkers with an interest in limited, location-based spirits
Sales are currently split between the Falkland Islands and the UK. Locally, the product is available through retail outlets; in the UK, distribution is developing. A volume operation it is not, and it is not intended to become one.
The name “Tumbledown” comes from Mount Tumbledown, a landmark with its own special place in Falklands history.
The Brand
The name “Tumbledown” comes from Mount Tumbledown, a landmark with its own special place in Falklands history. During the Falklands War, it was a key strategic position.
It is a name that carries meaning locally, and one that reflects pride, place, and character. Tumbledown is positioned as a premium spirit, not through scale or marketing, but through origin.
Not a gin designed for scale, for those who encounter it the intention is simple: Tumbledown Gin is something distinctive, something that could only have come from the Falklands. Initially produced for the local and tourist markets in the Falkland Islands, Falkland Islands Spirits was established in 2025 with a distribution office on the Isle of Man. Today the gin is shipped from the Falkland Islands with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary to make their gin available in Britain.
